Early Literacy

R is for Rewards

  • Rewards are healthy and helpful for your toddler.
  • Rewards can teach.
  • Praise can be the best reward for younger children.

Your child wants you to be happy with them, so praise them for good behavior or everyday success. Praising your child will help you bond with them over a positive action. Positive back and forth make healthy brains, which is why relationships are so important, even to your baby. Celebrating the little things helps your child to learn how to do things, and what is expected of them. Giving a spoken reward for helping is a very valuable lesson as well. They learn to see that being helpful is a good thing and as they continue to grow, they will hopefully continue to help.
